Starlab leads project to push the limits of human computer interaction

Starlab has started coordinating HC2 (Human-Computer Confluence) a new ambitious research program studying how the emerging symbiotic relation between humans and computing devices can enable radically new forms of sensing, perception, interaction, and understanding.
The horizontal character of HCC makes it a fascinating and fertile interdisciplinary field, but it can also compromise its growth, with researchers scattered across disciplines and groups worldwide.
HC2, which is supported by the European Commission under the Future and Emerging Technologies program, kicked off in October and will have a duration of 3 years. The consortium is composed by leading research and development groups and companies in Europe such as IRCAM, the Institute for Research and Coordination Acoustic/Music, the Laboratory of Human Interaction and New Technologies (LICENT) of the Department of Psychology of Università Cattolica di Milano and the the Institute for Pervasive Computing (at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, JKU).
The project will officially be presented during FET'11, The European Future Emerging Technologies Conference and Exhibition, that will be held in Budapest in May.
