Urbanization is developing rapidly in Myanmar triggering changes in urban water demand and needs for water supply and sanitation planning. Within the Ayeyarwady Integrated River Basin Management Project we have used Earth Observation (EO) to monitor urban expansion in Yangon and five other major cities in Myanmar. This will contribute to the sustainable management of this invaluable waterway including strengthen integrated, climate resilient management and development of the Basin and its water resources.  Funded by the European Space Agency, EO4SD-WATER.
